You can use the date picker instead of entering the date manually.
 Year
Select the year.

Select the month.

 Day
Click on a day to select it. The day, month and year will be accepted as the date required and the window will close.

 Today
Click to select today's date and close the window.

 Back
Close the window without making a selection.
